Few parts of Australia have histories as diverse and colourful as the Victorian Goldfields. Redesdale Estate is within the Goldfields Tourist route, which includes Castlemaine, Maldon and the historic gold-rush city of Bendigo, only 30 minutes away.
Part of Australia's Open Garden scheme, the gardens have a Mediterranean influence, with dry stone walls, olive vases, olive trees, lavenders and hedges. Rolling hills, eucalypt stands, rose gardens and fish filled streams are just part of the perfect escape recipe of Redesdale.
And there is more for you to discover as you pass away idyllic days. By night, sit on the verandah and watch the millions of stars of the Milky Way. While you wonder at the still of the night, you may just catch sight of our Australian wildlife, the black wallabies from the riverbank, or an echidna or two.
Enjoy the views from a sun lounger on the grassy slopes around the swimming pool. Or play petanque along the pebbled drive. Stroll down to the convict built ford on the Campaspe River, drop in a line and know that the view of the water was exactly the same 150 years ago.

Come and enjoy the magic and the delights of our unique accommodation.
Auberge de la Rose is a charming, beautifully appointed self-catering cottage overlooking the vineyards and olive grove, a delightful one-acre garden and a swimming pool. It provides peace and stylish, air-conditioned comfort in an idyllic rural environment for a couple. A French trundle daybed downstairs provides accommodation for a further two people if required.
The well-appointed kitchenette has a full European oven with gas cook-top, a microwave and small Scandinavian dishwasher. It overlooks the rose garden, where a gas barbecue provides for cooking al fresco while you relax and soak in the peace.
A fresh country breakfast is provided to enjoy at your leisure, perhaps on the private verandah, set amongst lavender and roses, where the breakfast table for two catches the morning sunshine.
The upstairs bed/sitting room has a luxurious queen sized bed, feather soft pillows and fine cotton bed linen. From here there are views over the surrounding countryside. From the sitting area, with its desk and TV with DVD, one overlooks gardens, vineyards and olive groves, and dams where wild ducks swim.
Downstairs is a dining table for four and lounge, with French day bed and stereo system.
A split-level quiet air conditioner cools the cottage in summer and takes the chill from the air when the vines turn red in autumn. For snug winter comfort, the cottage is equipped with a slow combustion potbelly stove, and a plentiful supply of wood.
