Christmas News

It’s been a busy time for us. We are very pleased to have leased the Redesdale Hotel in September. It has reopened after a long closure – and has been busy ever since. All in Redesdale love a real country pub to enjoy and have a meal… and it’s so close for our accommodation guests!

The vines are looking spectacular, despite the extremely dry season – just shows what 32 year old vines can do in order to survive! The flowering was huge, the bees were audible over the whole vineyard. Fruit set is good and we have great hopes for one of those great vintages brought about in drought years.

We have become known as one of the few older vineyards in the Heathcote wine region that maintains a policy of reserving parcels of each vintage made. Certainly not an exercise in economy, but worthwhile. Of course, there are some vintages with very small parcels remaining, and the remaining wines have been reserved for specialist wine dinners, exhibitions and a few lucky customers!

So, we are really pleased to let you know we have released a number of very special, beautifully aged museum vintage wines which are now available to purchase.

You will note we have just released a very special wine, La Scassatina 2014, a blend of our estate grown varietals. It is named after the Tuscan word for a small patch of rocky ground, and also after a villa we restored in Italy, in the same climate as Redesdale, same rocks as our hill vineyard. Made by our winemaker Alan Cooper of Cobaw Ridge, this is the first release made of the wines Alan made of the 2013 and 2014 vintages. It is lifted and lovely! Read the tasting notes on the website and see what level of excitement has already been raised.

We invite you to come to the vineyard over the holiday season – or beyond. We can arrange special tastings when possible at your request, just email or telephone us.

Peter and I wish you and yours a particularly peaceful and very happy festive season… we all would like that!
