The Property and Vineyard

Redesdale Estate is a small property with frontage on the Campaspe River in Central Victoria.
The 4Ha of vines are managed with drip irrigation to maintain monitored soil moisture, with minimal intervention in this warm, dry climate with cool nights. The soil is volcanic with sedimentary rock. The vines struggle – and are low-yielding of grapes with intense flavour. In seasons of increased rainfall, grape bunches are dropped to maintain consistency of yield and quality.
Although the vines were planted in 1982 (and initially the grapes were sold to a contract blender) the first vintage was made for the Redesdale Estate label only in 1999. The grapes are hand pruned and picked with care, whole bunches entering the process in absolutely perfect condition.
The wines, made only from grapes grown on the estate, produce a true history of wine from the same vines, grown in the same soil, year after year.
The wines are aged in new and seasoned French oak , then further aged in the bottle for up to 2 years prior to release, resulting in wine that shows great elegance and consistently gains top awards.
The Redesdale Estate wines:
Shiraz
Voluptuous, rich and dense, a fine proponent of Heathcote shiraz. Flavours include black cherry, plums, blackberries, bitter chocolate and anise spice.
Cabernet Sauvignon-Cabernet Franc
A rich and bold blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with small amounts of Malbec and Merlot.
Cabernets-Shiraz- La Scassatina
Produced for the first time for the 2014 vintage, the blend of our estate varietals is fresh and light, with fine tannins and lifted aromatics, an elegant and enticing addition to our wines.

To Come - A Sparkling Rose
Made from some of our Shiraz grapes of the 2016 Vintage, this new wine has now been put into a secondary fermentation in the bottle, a classic process to make an intriguing light sparkling wine. With light fine effervescence and classic shiraz, varietal characters, this will be a wine to  enjoy for spring, summer and into autumn.
It will be available late November 2017.
