Tasting Notes Heathcote Region Rating 8/10
Jancis Robinson Rating 18/20 Tasted 2004
Very, very spicy and fine-nosed. Aromatic and sleek. A bit of mint, but very much finer than most. There's a suggestion of Fisherman's Friend cough lozenges, plus richness but quite a dry finish.
James Halliday Tasted December 2003 Rating 90
Strong colour; excellent regional style; supple, round, smooth and sweet black fruits (cherry, berry); savoury tannins to close
Andrew Wood Tasted Feb 2004
Blindingly intense aromas of pepper, spice, Red Skins, redcurrant, raspberry, boot polish and bitumen that are lifted by some VA. Given the wine’s voluptuous aromas, the palate is amazingly pristine and resonates with fragrant, spicy, ripe red fruits of great clarity and poise. Cutting acidity runs down the length of the wine, with beautifully integrated bitey tannins crashing in on the tail end of the long finish. Slurpy, deep and has buckets of class. Drink this and see why Heathcote Shiraz has everyone all a-quiver.
