Redesdale Estate seems to have some mojo...one of those fly-under-the-radar boutique producers but, what I have seen of recent releases, worth paying attention to. Pepper, cinnamon, clove, spice-super spicy bouquet. The fruit is in the stewed Xmas cake spectrum, but that spice lifts things to a hearty freshness. Smooth, dark fruit concentration, choc-berry, lick of gum leaf and green herbs, fine, firm tannin finish (that rolls on). Lovely, ultra firm, but gradually building pucker to close, actually. This has an elegant bent. Very good. Tasted march 2017, drink 2017 - 2030, rating 93.

Hand picked, wild fermented, whole bunches, open vats, 12 months on new and used French oak, not fined nor filtered. A rich and powerful full-bodied Shiraz, still in primary mode; densely textured, but no bitter extract or rough tannins. Screw cap 14.4% alc. Tasted April 2016, drink to 2018. Rating 91
